A Timeline of Montana PTA Events to help you communicate with the
State Office and meet required deadlines.
AS NECESSARY:
When you have a change of address for your board members, or a change in your board structure, please notify the Montana PTA office.
Honorary Life Memberships may be awarded at any time. Your unit may make the presentation or we can present it during the Montana PTA Convention in September.
UNIT’S ARE ENCOURAGED TO:
Notify the Montana PTA office and make the necessary changes in the National PTA OMDR system immediately when you have a change of address for your board members, or a change in your board structure to ensure effective communication
Honorary Life Memberships may be awarded at any time. Your unit may make the presentation or we can present it during the Montana PTA Convention in September.
File your unit’s IRS 990 (990N, 990EZ or 990) Information Return for Tax Exempt Organizations; due the 15th day after the 4th month of the close of your tax year. For example: if your fiscal year ends June 30th, your return is due November 15, 2007.
Send a copy of your local unit standing rules to the MT PTA office yearly and/or whenever updated/amended.
JUNE/JULY 2007:
ü June 1st – Local Unit Officers List due, please indicate which officers will receive the Montana PTA Bulletin on this form. The Unit Bulletin Subscription covers your President, Treasurer, Secretary and one Vice-President for only $25.00. The $25.00 fee must be remitted by November 1st, 2007.
ü June 28- July 1 - National PTA Convention. If you are attending, please notify the state office so you can be considered as a voting delegate.
ü President and Treasurer receive the Montana PTA Unit Leadership Information CD
ü REGISTER FOR CONVENTION: Forms are available at: www.montanapta.org
ü July 14 – MT PTA Board of Directors meeting in Lewistown
AUGUST:
ü REGISTER FOR CONVENTION: If you unit has not registered for convention do it this month. For advance registration rates, forms must be received by August 31.
ü Order the Montana PTA Bulletin, a great way to stay informed and up to date. The Unit Subscription covers your President, Treasurer, Secretary and Vice-President for only $25.00
ü Unit should have received the following:
· NPTA Quick Reference Guides and Back-To-School Kit - share this with members of your board
· Membership cards (delivered to your school or to your unit’s President)
· Montana PTA Unit Leadership Information CD sent to unit President and Treasurer
· MT PTA Convention Packet sent to unit President, Treasurer, Secretary and one Vice-President
SEPTEMBER:
ü 2nd - Last day to request a refund for MT PTA Convention
ü Begin membership drive, consider using the MT PTA All STARS membership theme
ü 14 -16th MT PTA Convention, Billings, Montana
ü NPTA Reflections program Intent to Participate form is due October 1st

2007-08 Theme, “I Can Make A Difference By…”
ü Consider becoming involved in the Member-To-Member Network on the National & State level for Legislative action.
OCTOBER:
ü 1st- Reflections Intent to Participate form is due in the MT PTA office
ü Membership remittance , insurance payment and Bulletin fee due November 1st
ü MT PTA Board meeting retreat
NOVEMBER:
ü 1st- Membership remittance and insurance payment is due. Submit MT PTA Remittance Form, OMDR membership list, Unit Bulletin Subscription fee, membership and insurance payment by November 1. Remittance for additional members received after November 1 will be due March 1.
ü Please note: remittance for membership dues, insurance payments and Bulletin subscription are to be submitted to GREAT FALLS TEACHERS FEDERAL CREDIT UNION, PO Box 2649, Great Falls, MT 59403. Check made payable to the Montana PTA. Please see the MT PTA Remittance Form. Our mailing address for all other correspondence will remain the same.

DECEMBER:

ü Reflections deadline is February 1st
ü Montana PTA Board of Directors Teleconference Meeting
FEBRUARY:
ü 1st- Reflections entries are due to the MT PTA Cultural Arts Chair
ü 17th - National PTA Founders Day
ü National PTA convention early bird registration begins
ü Final membership remittance due March 1st
MARCH:
ü 1st- Final membership remittance due, submit any additional members received since the November 1st remittance date.
ü National PTA awards deadline is April 1st
ü MT PTA awards deadline is Aril 1st
ü Scholarship Application deadline is April 1st
ü Nominations for Montana PTA Board of Directors due April 1st
APRIL:
ü 1st- Montana PTA Awards applications due to the MT PTA Office for:

Membership, Leadership, Grassroots, Outstanding Unit, Outstanding Educator, Outstanding Volunteer
ü 1st- Resolution Submission forms due
ü 1st- National PTA award applications due
ü 1st- Nominations for MT PTA Board of Directors due

ü 15th – File your unit’s Corporate Renewal Filing with the State of Montana
ü MT PTA Board of Directors meeting
ü Send your unit’s current and potential leaders to MT PTA Leadership Conferences in either Great Falls, Billings or Missoula
MAY:
ü Montana PTA Convention Early Bird Registration; watch for more information. (If you don’t register in May, budget so you can register in August!)
